This is a newly explored route for those who love to touch a dense jungle with an unspoiled nature in the area of a Wild Life Sanctuary (Chiang Dao).
The trek consists of activities along the Mae Tang River in Huay Nam Dung National Park Area, which’s very well known for its beautiful native floras & vegetations. It is also included a lovely Elephant riding trip as well as an exciting bamboo rafting.

Itinerary
DAY 1: CHIANG MAI – CHIANG DAO CAVE – MUANG KONG – LISU VILLAGE (-/L/D)
- 08h30 : Leave from the hotel by a local truck to the North of Chiang Mai.
- 09h30 : Stop at Mae Ma Lai local market to purchase some food and vegetables needed during the trek.
- 10h00 : Continue to drive about 40 minutes to Tam Chiang Dao, the biggest cave in Chiang Mai to view beautiful stalactites & stalagmites and the Myanmese Reclining Buddha image inside the cave.
- 11h30 : Further by truck passing through beautiful mountainous scenery and hill tribe villages up to Doi Chiang Dao (the 3rd highest peak in Thailand, 2,225 meters above the sea level).
- 12h30 : Local lunch on the way before proceeding to Karen village at Baan Muang Kong.
- 14h30 : Start the jungle trek about 2 hours to Lisu village at Baan Huay Din Dam.
- 16h00 : Arrive the village. Hospitably welcome by the villagers. Leave your gears at the Bamboo Hut (dormitory room for the group) & relax. Walk around to visit the village chatting and joining local activities or helping the guide to prepare dinner for the group.
- 19h00 : Candle light Dinner with the group (no electricity!). After dinner, have friendly chat with the guide about tribal culture and history.
DAY 2: LISU HILL TRIBE VILLAGE – ELEPHANT RIDE – KAREN HILL TRIBE VILLAGE (B/L/D)
- 08h00 : Have an easy breakfast at the village.
- 09h00 : Hard trek about 4-5 hours up and down hill which is a memorable trip under the beautiful shade of lush and green trees with various species of wild orchids, floras and vegetations.
- 13h00 : Lunch in a jungle style will be provided by the guide and his assistant during the trek.
- 15h00 : Rest and relax by experiencing Jumbo (Not Jet) Elephant ride (no more trek) about 45 minutes through the jungle to Karen hill tribe village, Baan Pang Kao Lam for our second night stop.
- 16h30 : Arrive the village and leave your gears at the wooden Hut (Dormitory room for the group). Free at leisure or having some fun by swimming in the river, fishing, exploring the village, playing football with children or helping the guide cooking.
- 19h00 : Dinner will be provided. Enjoy the evening exchanging ideas or stories, playing games or music.
DAY 3: KAREN HILL TRIBE VILLAGE – BAMBOO RAFTING – CHIANG MAI (B/L/-)
- 08h00 : Early breakfast at the village.
- 09h00 : Say good bye to the Karen tribe before leaving the village by a superb transport, “Bamboo Raft”. Keep rafting for 2 hours down the Mae Tang river for approximately 2 hours to the Lahu village enjoying the peaceful tranquility of nature that can only be interrupted by only the sound of birds and trekkers singing!!.
- 11h00 : Arrive Lahu village and recheck your raft before continuing a more exciting trip going down passing rocks and rapids about 2 hours to the Shan village.
- 13h00 : Lunch at Shan local Restaurant. (Included in cost)
- 14h30 : Transfer back to Chiang Mai by local truck.
- 17h00 : Say “Good bye” to your group and guide before returning to a nice and comfortable hotel.

- 13h00 : Enjoy a trip on a motor long-tailed boat down the Mae Kok river for 2 ½ hours to Baan Ruammit, Karen hill tribe village.

- 09h00 : Trek at least 3 ½ - 4 hours to the Elephant camp which’s quite impressive because you will mostly trek under the shady of green trees.
- 12h00 : Lunch break at the camp where the guide will show his cooking skill by preparing lunch for the group. Then, take time after lunch hanging around observing natural behavior of Elephants.
- 14h00 : Enjoy an Elephant ride through beautiful lush jungle about 45 minutes to the Karen village, Bann Pang Khao Laam.
- 16h00 : Dinner and over night at the village. There’s usually a camp fire with some entertainment (Jokes – Games – Funny Stories) lead by the guide after dinner.

Day 1: CHIANGMAI – HOT SPRING – KAREN HILLTRIBE VILLAGE (-/L/D)
- 09h00 : Depart by truck to the North of Chiang Mai. A short stop will be made at Mae Malai local market to purchase some foods and vegetables needed during the trek.
- 10h00 : Stop at Mok Fah Waterfall for swimming and relaxation.
- 11h00 Transfer by truck to Baan Pang Lun for a local lunch.
- 13h00 Continue the trip to Pong Deud Hot Spring on the way.
- 14h00 : Trek about 1 ½ hour to Karen hill tribe village at Bann Pong Noi then, continue trekking another 2 ½ hours to another Karen hill tribe village at Bann Pang Paaka or Bann Mae Manai.
- 18h00 : Dinner and overnight at the Karen village. There’s usually a camp fire with some entertainment (Jokes – Games – Funny Stories) lead by the guide after dinner.
Day 2: KAREN HILLTIRBE VILLAGE – ELEPHANT RIDE – BAMBOO RAFT – LAHU HILLTRIBE VILLAGE –SHAN VILLAGE – CHIANG MAI (B/L/-)
- 07h30 : Breakfast at the village.
- 08h30 : Trek about 1 hour to the Elephant camp then proceed the trip by an Elephant ride about 45 minutes.
- 10h30 : Take a bamboo raft along the Tang River through many rapids for 2 ½ hours to Shan village, Bann Sob Kai. On the way stop at Lahu hill tribe village at Bann Pong Ngan.
- 13h00 Late lunch at Shan village.
- 14h00 Transfer by a pickup truck back to Chiang Mai.

Day 1 Chiang Mai – Fang – Doi Pu Muen (-/L/D)
- 09h00 : Pick up in the morning at your hotel in Chiang Mai city or Chiang Mai airport, depart to North of Chiang Mai to Fang.
- 12h00 : Arrive and have lunch at Phumanee Lahu Home Hotel in the downtown of Fang.
- 13h00 : Brief about Doi Pu Muen & Lahu Tribe : Phumanee is the Information Centre of Lahu tribe & The condition of the village as well as the history of immigration and birth place of origin. & Their main objectives for the better future.
- 13h30 : Transfer to Doi Pu Muen by 4x4 WD truck. Stop at the local market on the way to buy things needed during volunteer period. Continue to the high mountain along the bumpy road for approximately 45 minutes to Lahu village at Doi Pu Muen, 1,306 meters above sea level. The people who live here are the black Lahu hill tribe who mainly settle their communities in the Union of Myanmar and Thailand. Here, at Doi Pu Muen there are 2 villages of the Lahu; Pu Muen Nok/Outside (the Buddhist) and Pu Muen Nai /Inside (the Christian).
- 14h30 : Arrive Pu Muen Nai (Nai means Inside) and welcome by the hosts. Leave your gears at home stay (dormitory room for the group) & relax.
- 15h00 : Time to learn Making Tea; picking leaves from plantation / heating / massaging to remove the oil out of the leaves / drying process. As tea & coffee are the main cash crops of Doi Pu Muen especially tea so, a lot of tea plantations can be found all over the village.
- 16h30 : Begin sightseeing around; seeing more of the village’s atmosphere / learning by chatting & interchanging some cultural ideas with the hill tribe people. / learning their daily life / learning about their style of architecture (house’s pattern & materials).
- 17h30 : Debrief for the next’s day activities.
- 18h30 : Enjoy having dinner with the host’s family as well as having a good time with them chatting and learning some Lahu words in order to be able to communicate with the Lahu people who know nothing about English.
Day 2 Doi Pu Muen - Volunteer – Camp Fire (B/L/D)
- 08h00 : Breakfast at home stay.
- 09h00 : Embark on the community project for instances; Construction the community base / Develop livelihood about public health in the village / Develop sanitation in the village; toilet, kitchen, household and etc, / Conduct or Teach English class at the school
- 12h00 : Lunch at home stay or the construction site or at the school depending on what the project is.
- 13h30 : Continues activities : Carry on the construction work / Develop agriculture; tea & coffee plantations / Classifying vegetation plots
- 17h00 : Debrief and summarize as well as re-arrange and do a report for the next volunteer group.
- 18h00 : Return to home stay for freshening up and recreating.
- 19h00 : Group gathering around the Camp Fire at the village’s ground. Join cooking then having Bamboo Meal with the villagers.

- 10h00 : Transfer by truck from the village to Pu Muen Waterfall. 12h00 Lunch at Phumanee Lahu Home Hotel.
